Technotitlan 2.0

Our team

Technotitlan 2.0 is a diverse and interdisciplinary group with backgrounds in Architecture, Biobased Science, Biosystems Engineering, Biotechnology, Business and Economics, Food Safety, Geo-information Science, Land Water Management, International Development, Law, Organic Agriculture and Urban Planning. Each team member brings part of their culture to the table. Creating a blend of Mexican, Dutch, German, Chinese and Colombian culture in each stage of the project.

Our strengths

Technotitlan 2.0 work as a mind hive that has a wide range of knowledge in multiple areas with the capacity to collaborate systematically and understanding ”learning” as an iterative process of co-creation to innovate and broad knowledge concerning the three main objectives of the challenge: circularity, sustainability and social impact. Technotitlan 2.0 applied lessons learned from Technotitlan 1.0 in 2018.

Our drive

We are firmly convinced of the relevance of achieving an icon that disrupts mainstream ideas in agriculture. Bringing back the values of food for nutrition and agriculture as social integration of community. While China is a reference point regarding food security worldwide, it allows us to push the innovation boundaries to the next level.
We also believe that sustainability is a meaningless word if it is not comprehensive, integrally quantified and locally inclusive.

What we want to achieve

We want to create an agricultural icon that accomplish inverting the order of thinking first in terms of problems rather than opportunities in sustainability. To become a innovation hallmark that stimulates other circularity ventures worldwide. Also, to perfect our understanding of the population whose life will be transversally influenced by this building and to be able to co-create value with them. We want to achieve financial feasibility and operations that are down to earth.

What are the main starting points of our concept?

The concept of our food production system is to co-create a modular experience for stimulating sustainable communities through education based on food as nutrition and agriculture as social interaction. In line with this, we seek to deepen the understanding and celebrate Chinese culture focused on the relationship between urban and rural link engaging on social inclusion, socio-ecological mitigation and ease the alienation of food consumers.

What are the main functions of our building?

The main function of the building is retrieving the values of food for nutrition and agriculture as social integration, inspired by traditional Chinese cuisine. This indoor and outdoor food system will allow different activities for visitors, engaging with local products through communal activities also with the transference of knowledge through tours and educational activities. Supported by a digital platform that guides people through the food systems, species that are cultivated and other activities that take place in the building.

On the other hand, the Ziggurats functions as an innovation and technological development center. It is intended to become an agri-tech valley in china, where enterprises can develop and demonstrate their technologies in a contained and safe space, in order to bring customers closer and increase cooperation. It also functions as a seed bank, considered in order to guarantee the prevalence of Chinese agricultural heritage and communicate its prospection value.

Ziggurat functions as a restaurant, tea-bar, snack-bars, conference rooms, workspaces and classrooms where the knowledge sharing activities that are chosen by the community take place. Furthermore, it works like a fountain of knowledge with massive open online courses such as: micro-livestock entrepreneurship, designing sustainable agro-complexes and food cultures

Finally, the Ziggurat seeks to be the meeting point where social interaction happens following the digital interaction. We spot an opportunity to develop fully the Antforest-Alipay platform in which relates to the challenge objectives making it a transversal digital resource in relation to the other elements.

What are the unique selling points of our concept?

China already has several agro-food complexes in different countries, this project is intended to be the top of mind of this type of construction in China. Ziggurat is a modular experience that not only involves a modern, energy-saving, green building but also itself is a center for knowledge sharing and innovation. Intended to bring values of food for nutrition and agriculture as social integration. It also creates a network of economies that are not yet fully exploited like the insect rearing entrepreneurship.

This building intends to demonstrate that community-based production systems can permeate a metropolis rather than the commoditized and alienating role that agriculture has for this population. Also, is a place that visitors choose to go because they are met with their actual needs related to agriculture and their idiosyncrasies. This project seeks to build over what’s already built. For instance, we noticed that a modification of the Ant forest can help the agri-food complex to delivery is value proposition. This idea can be further replicate in other cities. Finally, Ziggurat conciliates the past forgotten idiosyncratic identities related to agriculture with the future perspectives and needs in food consumption for avoiding the extinction of our species.
